Project Description

One of the challenges of rebuilding old apartments is opening up their typically small room layout. This apartment was no exception. We removed a wall separating the kitchen and utility room to give the apartment a huge open feeling in the kitchen and living room, while adding a heavy-duty header to support the roof.

The apartment had nice hard wood floors that were in desperate need of sanding and refinishing, so we sanded them down to raw wood (we were removing 100 years of buildup, this was not a quick sanding!) and refinished with an espresso stain and poly to protect the floors and bring out a high shine.

We gave the moldings a rose finish to make the beautiful original wood work pop, and quickly rented this unit.
